RAMALLAH, February 19, 2012 (WAFA) – The three Palestinian Arabic dailies focused on President Mahmoud Abbas’ reiteration that the government he intends to form as per the Doha agreement with Hamas will uphold the PLO obligations and signed agreements.
Al-Quds prime headline also quoted Abbas saying the government’s political agenda will be a continuation of his political program.
The polar air mass that hit the Palestinian Territory was the highlight of the three dailies, featuring snow in Hebron and Bethlehem on Saturday and printing pictures of children playing with snow.
Al-Hayat al-Jadida, however, was the only paper to focus on statements by the European Union and France, expressing concern over the health condition of Khader Adnan, the Palestinian prisoner held in Israeli jails without charge of trial and who has been on hunger strike for 64 days in a row protesting his arrest.
Al-Ayyam reported that Israeli warplanes targeted a blacksmith shop in Gaza, injuring two Palestinians on Saturday night. It added that Israeli tanks, accompanied with bulldozers, raided Beit Lahiya, a town north of the Strip.
