RAMALLAH, February 18, 2012 (WAFA) – President Mahmoud Abbas said Saturday that the national unity government he intends to form as per the Doha agreement with Hamas will uphold the PLO obligations and signed agreements.
He said during a meeting in Ramallah with the new Italian Consul General in Jerusalem, Giampaolo Cantini, that the government’s political agenda will be a continuation of his political program.
Abbas briefed Cantini on the latest developments in the peace process, particularly the exploratory talks held in Jordan last month and their failure due to Israeli refusal to recognize the 1967 borders of the Palestinian state and to stop settlement activities.
Cantini said he will focus during this term on strengthening bilateral relations and upgrading level of cooperation between Italy and Palestine.
