Abbas Meets Blair, Discusses Peace Talks

AMMAN, February 11, 2012 (WAFA) – President Mahmoud Abbas Saturday met Quartet representative Tony Blair in the Jordanian capital Amman where they discussed the latest developments in the peace process.

They also discussed the Arab League peace follow-up committee meeting planned to be held in Cairo on Sunday.

Abbas is expected to brief the committee on the exploratory talks held last month in Jordan and to seek its advice on the next move following the failure of these talks due to Israeli refusal to stop settlements and recognize the 1967 lines as the borders of the future Palestinian state.

Reports said Blair had proposed confidence building measures by Israel to help the Palestinians to continue in the exploratory talks.
