Abbas to Seek Arab Advice on Next Move

CAIRO, February 11, 2012 (WAFA) – President Mahmoud Abbas is scheduled to address members of the Arab League follow-up committee on Middle East peace on Sunday to ask their advice on the next move following the failure of the exploratory talks held in Jordan last month, an official said Saturday.

Deputy Secretary-General of the Arab League Ahmed Ben Helli said Abbas will brief the follow-up committee on the five rounds of talks held in Jordan and future Palestinian plans in light of the deadlock in the peace process.

Abbas will discuss the Palestinian Authority’s options to deal with issues related to negotiations, settlement activities and East Jerusalem.

Ben Helli said that the Arab League will hold three other meetings to discuss the Syrian situation as well.

Abbas is expected to arrive in Cairo on Saturday where he will hold a number of meetings to discuss issues related to the Palestinian cause.
