NABLUS, November 15, 2011 (WAFA) – Israeli Authorities prevented a Palestinian prisoner released in the recent Gilad Shalit swap from traveling abroad to receive treatment, Tuesday said his family.
Medical reports indicated that the health condition of Amal Joma’a is severely deteriorating due to a severe bleeding in the stomach and chronic inflammation of the lungs, said her brother.
Imad Eshteiwi, coordinator of the High Commission for the Prisoners and Ex-Detainees’ Affairs, said Joma’a’s doctors advised an immediate transfer abroad due to lack of proper medical equipment for her treatment in the West Bank.
He called on Egypt, the main sponsor of the prisoners’ swap deal between Hamas and Fatah, which freed the Israeli soldier Gilad Shalit inexchange of the release of 1027 Palestinian prisoners in October, to intervene to make Israel allow the transfer of Joma’a.
Joma’a, who is currently hospitalized in Nablus, had uterus cancer and underwent hysterectomy in Israeli jails.
