TUNIS, November 12, 2011 (WAFA) – President Mahmoud Abbas Saturday said that some sides continue their attempts to drop the Olive branch that the late president Yassir Arafat raised back in 1974.
This came during Abbas’ interview with Nesma Independent Tunisian TV before leaving the country after a visit that lasted three days.
Abbas said Palestine’s full membership in the United Nations Educational, Scientific and Cultural Organization (UNESCO) is a victory for all Palestinians.
He said that the International Quartet is trying to close the gap between the Palestinian and Israeli positions.
He reiterated that the Palestinian reconciliation is a national demand.
Abbas met, during his visit, with the acting Tunisian President, Fouad Mebazza to discuss latest developments regarding the Palestinian cause and the bilateral relations between the two countries.
