AMMAN/JORDAN, October 31, 2011 (WAFA) – President Mahmoud Abbas told WAFA on Monday that voting in favor of Palestine to gain full membership in UNESCO “is for peace and represents an international consensus supporting our legitimate national rights, at the forefront our right to statehood.”
Abbas expressed his gratitude to all the countries that voted in favor of Palestine’s full membership in the United Nations Educational, Scientific and Cultural Organization (UNESCO).
He stressed that “this vote is not against anyone, it is only in support of freedom and justice.”
