Vandals Set Fire to Arab Restaurant in Jaffa

JAFFA, October 31, 2011 (WAFA) – Unknown vandals Monday set fire to an Arab restaurant in the city of Jaffa, heavily damaging the restaurant and its contents , according to Israeli media.

Ha’aretz newspaper said residents of Jaffa reported in the morning that vandals set fire to an Arab restaurant, “Abu al-Abed,” and wrote racist slogans such as “Price Tag” and “Kahane was right.”

They said unknown vandals poured  flammable material from the kitchen’s window and lit it, after the restaurant closed at 11:00 pm Sunday, which led to a fire in the restaurant.

Residents reported the vandalism to local police when they discovered it in the morning.

Police have opened an investigation into the incident.

“Abu al-Abed” restaurant owner said he will restore the restaurant and re-open it by Wednesday.

A number of vandalism acts were carried out recently against Arab residents of Jaffa, including vandalizing two Muslim and Christian cemeteries.
