RAMALLAH, October 30, 2011 (WAFA) – The three Arabic dailies Sunday reported on the Israeli airstrikes which targeted an Islamic Jihad cell in the Gaza Strip, killing 9 Palestinians and injuring others.
Al-Quds front page said the Palestinian factions held the Israeli government fully responsible for the attack and called on Israel to stop escalating its aggression against the Strip.
Al-Ayyam front page headline read, “Nine martyrs in Israeli airstrikes on the Gaza Strip and Islamic Jihad responds with grad rockets.”
Al-Hayyat al-Jadida reported on the same incident, saying one Israeli was killed by a grad rocket fired by Islamic Jihad at Asqalan, in response to the Israeli attack on Gaza.
Al-Quds printed a photo of a number of Israeli vehicles that burned after Islamic Jihad fired a grad rocket.
The three dailies also reported on the Arab Follow-up Committee meeting in Doha, in which President Mahmoud Abbas participated to discuss progress of the Palestinian application to the United Nations.
Al-Quds editorial headline read, “No to the military escalation against the Strip and the continuous burial of the political process.”
It said the Israeli government is escalating its provocative measures against the Palestinians to hinder the peace process and to foil any efforts to resume negotiations.
