Israeli Air Force Targets Islamic Jihad Cell

RAFAH, October 29, 2011 (WAFA) – Israeli air force Saturday targeted an Islamic Jihad cell in Rafah, south of the Gaza Strip, killing five Palestinians and injuring three others, according to local sources.

They said an Israeli drone fired at least two missiles at the location, which was once an Israeli outpost in former Gush Katif settlement that was evacuated in 2005.

Medical sources told WAFA that five bodies were transferred to Abu Yusif Najjar hospital in Rafah while ambulance crew were still looking for possible other bodies.

The Israeli Haaretz newspaper quoted army sources as saying that the strike targeted an Islamic Jihad cell responsible for launching a grad rocket at southern Israel last week.

Presidential spokesman Nabil Abu Rudeineh called for an end to Israeli military escalation against the Gaza Strip.

He told WAFA from the Qatari capital, Doha, not to give Israel a chance to bring war to Gaza and intensify the blockade against it.
