RAMALLAH, October 29, 2011 (WAFA) – The three Palestinian Arabic dailies Saturday focused on different issues, but mainly on Fatah Revolutionary Council’s celebrating released prisoners and the planned voting for Palestine’s membership at UNESCO on Monday.

Headlines in all three dailies quoted President Mahmoud Abbas’ address at the Revolutionary Council meeting, stressing that the issue of Palestinian prisoners is a top priority for the Palestinian leadership.

Abbas reiterated a previous promise by the Israeli government and the US administration to release a number of prisoners matching the number of or even exceeding that of the prisoners released in the latest prisoners’ swap between Hamas and Israel.

Al-Ayyam reported on its front page that the United Nations Educational, Scientific and Cultural Organization (UNESCO) will vote on the Palestinian membership in the international organization following Foreign Minister Riad Malki’s address to the general conference on Monday in Paris.

Al-Quds newspaper highlighted the incitement campaign by the Israeli right-wing extremists against released Palestinian prisoners from Jerusalem.

The daily printed a picture of one of the released prisoners holding a brochure displaying personal information and pictures of the prisoners that was distributed by Israeli fanatics.

Al-Hayat al-Jadida chose to focus on the situation in Syria after police attacked demonstrations against President Bashar al-Assad regime leaving more than 40 civilians dead. The daily printed a picture of a mass demonstration near Homs.

Al-Quds editorial, titled “Israeli extremists are the ones who should be pursued,” condemned the aggressive campaign against the released prisoners and mocked claims that the campaign is “legal.”

The daily held the Israeli government responsible for the calls to kill prisoners and demanded the Israeli authorities to protect them.
