JENIN, October 22, 2011 (WAFA) – Israeli soldiers opened fire on Saturday at a Palestinian funeral in Daher al-Maleh, a village near Jenin in the north of the West Bank, said local sources. Four people were injured.
Eyewitnesses told WAFA that mourners coordinated in advance with the Israeli authorities to bury the deceased in a cemetery in a neighboring village on the Israeli-controlled side of the apartheid wall since Daher al-Maleh does not have a cemetery.
However, Israeli soldiers refused to allow them to cross the gate separating the two villages.
Clashes broke out between the mourners and the Israeli soldiers, who opened fire at the funeral injuring four Palestinians, including the son of the deceased. They were reported in light condition.
