RAMALLAH, October 81, 2011 (WAFA) - EUPOL COPPS has recently organized a technical training on economic crimes, bookkeeping and fraud for 34 Palestinian conciliation judges, Tuesday said an EUPOL COPPS press release.
This training comes as part of the ongoing support to the High Judicial Council Training Department to provide continuous education for judges.
The aim of the two-day workshop was to provide the conciliation judges with specific knowledge on how to interpret economic evidence, which should lead to better quality of judgments, in turn increasing public confidence in the judiciary.
The lectures were provided by Professor Naser Abdelkarim, from Birzeit University, one of the leading Palestinian scholars in the field of economics, and who is involved in several projects related to transparency of the Palestinian financial market.
During the workshop, Abdelkarim covered public and private finance standards relevant to the Occupied Palestinian Territory, for example: laws and regulations for bank and private businesses and money transfer regulations, economic crimes and bookkeeping standards.
