RAMALLAH, October 18, 2011 (WAFA) - President Mahmoud Abbas, in his address in the presidential headquarters in Ramallah at the reception of the released Palestinian prisoners, said another group of prisoners will be released soon according to the deal with the former Israeli government.
Abbas praised the prisoners’ patience and sacrifice, saying, “You will see the results of your sacrafice and struggle reflected in the upcoming Palestinian state with Jerusalem as its capital.”
Abbas expressed hope that all prisoners in Israeli prisons will be released soon.
He said the Palestinian prisoners cause has been the center of the Palestinian Authority’s attention in all local and international gatherings.
He said: “Soon, we will see Marwan Barghouti and Ahmad Saadat, whom we wish a full recovery.”
Abbas praised Egypt and its efforts to release the prisoners and make this deal a success.
He added that “the reconcilation started from the prisoners exchange deal and will be achieved.”
“The upcoming negotiations will be based on two major aspects: establishing a Palestinian state on 1967 borders and freezing settlement activities. The prisoners’ issue must be a priority,” Abbas added.
