CAIRO, October 9, 2011 (WAFA) - The Arab League's head of Palestine affairs, Mohammad Sbaih announced Sunday that the Arab league is following up with international and regional bodies to discuss the issue of the Palestinian prisoners on hunger strike in Israeli jails for the thirteenth day consecutively.

He added, “We are following up on the prisoners strike and the news about the Israeli authorities preventing salt to enter to some cells, we are very concerned.” He held Israel fully responsible for any possible escalation.

He clarified that the Arab league is continuously contacting the Minister of Detainees and Ex-Detainees, Issa Qaraqe, to show the suffering of the prisoners as well to present their case at various levels and that it’s done in cooperation and coordination between the two sides.

He added, “Neither in the liberation movements or occupation history, did a country detain such a big number of children, old people or women, nor do we find heavily armed soldiers assault children in this dangerous way, except in the occupied Arab and Palestinian lands.

He said, “The statistics and data that we receive, we distribute to international institutions and Arab countries. Arab league missions abroad are active in exposing the truth behind the measures and aggression that face the Palestinian prisoners in Israeli jails.
