Industrial Production Index Decreases in August

RAMALLAH, October 5, 2011 (WAFA) - The overall quantity of the Industrial Production Index (IPI) in the Palestinian Territory declined by 4.2% in August 2011 from the previous month, to reach a value of 101.4 compared to the base month of January, Wednesday said a report by the Palestinian Central Bureau of Statistics.

The report traced the changes in IPI to changes in the quantity of some main activities compared to the previous month, including a decrease in mining and quarrying, whose relative share of overall activities is 4.6%.

The quantity of manufacturing, which forms 80.5% of activities, declined by 8.2%, whereas the quantity of water supply & electricity increased by 17.0% with a relative share of 4.9% of activities.
