PPC Publishes Palestinian Prisoners' Demands

RAMALLAH, October 2, 2011 (WAFA) - The Palestinian Prisoner's Club (PPC) published the demands of Palestinian prisoners, detained at the Israeli jails, who have been on hunger strike since Wednesday, Sunday said a press release by the PPC.

The demands included: to stop the policy of solitary confinement imposed on almost 20 prisoners, stop the policy of strip searches, stop the policy of collective punishment and the imposition of fines, stop the daily inspection and sabotaging of prisoners’ rooms, improve the condition of vehicles that transfer the prisoners, particularly the sick.

The visitation demands included: to allow family visits to Gazan prisoners who have not seen their families since June 2007, to allow all family members to visit prisoners, to allow children to have normal visits after they reach the age of 16, to allow the detained spouses to visit each other and to place related prisoners in one prison to facilitate visitation procedures.

Allow the Arab prisoners to phone their relatives and send video tapes out to their families, improve the condition of family visits through removing the glass separating the prisoners from their visitors, to re-allow the entry of children during the visitation time, to allow children to hug their parents, stop the humiliating  search policy against family members and allow them to carry water bottles while on the visitation buses, stop tying the hands and legs of prisoners with chains when meeting with their lawyers or the family members and not to punish prisoners by banning family visits.

Other demands: to release the mentally ill prisoners and prisoners with incurable diseases, to provide the sick prisoners with the appropriate treatment including: surgery, the provision of assistive devices, to accelerate diagnosing of diseases, to allow the approved list of doctors to enter the prison easily, to release all administrative prisoners.

Improve the quantity and quality of food, allow them to watch the satellite TV channels, allow them to continue their education and allow the entry of books.
