CAIRO, September 28, 2011 (WAFA) - The Egyptian Foreign Minister Mohammad Amr Wednesday condemned the Israeli authorities’ approval of a plan to build 1100 new housing units in East Jerusalem.
In a press release, he said that “this decision lacks any legitimacy and constitutes a new Israeli challenge to the members of the international community, which is working to restore credibility to the path of political settlement because those members are responsible to face this challenge.”
He stressed that this Israeli action reflects the choice of Israel to continue in its provocative policies and its defiance of the international consensus on the illegality of settlements, pointing out that the Israeli side was encouraged by the quartet recent statement, which did not have any reference to the need to stop settlement activities.
