Increase of 28.8% in Output Value, says Bureau of Statistics

RAMALLAH, September 28, 2011 (WAFA) – Palestinian Central Bureau of Statistics (PCBS) published Wednesday the preliminary results of its Economic Surveys for 2010, showing an increase of 28.8% in output value and 33.6% of value added compared to 2009.

 

The results of the surveys reveal there are 103,766 enterprises operating in the economic activities covered. The distribution of these enterprises by economic activity is as follows:  industrial activities: 15.1%, construction: 0.4%, internal trade: 58.0%, services: 25.6%, transport and storage: 0.5% and information and communications: 0.4%.

 

About 55.1% of employed persons are waged employees, 75.5% of whom are male.

 

In 2010, 295,184 workers were employed in these economic activities, distributed as follows: industrial activities: 22.2%, internal trade: 41.3%, services: 31.4%, construction: 1.9%, transport and storage: 1.7% and information and communications: 1.5%.

 

The results indicate that the value of output of the enterprises in the Palestinian Territory was US$7,365.6 million, distributed by economic activity as follows: industrial activities: 36.6%, construction: 5.2%, internal trade: 30.7%, services: 17.8%, transport and storage: 1.7% and information and communications activities: 8.0%.

 

Gross value added in the enterprises in the Palestinian Territory was US$4,932.7 million, distributed by economic activity as follows: industrial activities: 26.6%, construction: 3.6%, internal trade: 37.7%, services: 19.7%, transport and storage: 1.7% and information and communications: 10.7%.
