UN-Style Blue Chair Set Up in Ramallah

RAMALLAH, September 20, 2011 (WAFA) – The ‘Palestine Deserves’ group, which launched the ‘Flying Seat’ campaign, Tuesday set up a blue chair that symbolizes the chair of 'Palestine' in the United Nations at Manara square, Ramallah’s city center.

The move came in support of the Palestinian’s UN membership bid.

The chair, was 6.5 meters high and 3.5 meters wide, is considered the largest in the world, according to the organizers.

‘Palestine Deserves’ campaign is a group of young businessmen and women from all over the West Bank who traveled the world with their very own chair to drum up support for the Palestinian bid. The chair is colored in traditional UN blue and was designed and made in such a way that it can be packed and carried in a suitcase.

The chair has arrived in New York on Friday, the last leg in its world trip, and was handed over to UN officials.
