WEST BANK, September 20, 2011 (WAFA) - The Israel army intensified its presence in the West Bank in fear of demonstrations during the vote for membership of the state of Palestine at the United Nations later this week, according to security sources.
In Jenin, Israeli soldiers intensified their presence and patrolled their military vehicles in the vicinity of several villages east of the city.
Soldiers accompanied by intelligence officers set up a military checkpoint between Rummana and Zububa, villages west of Jenin, and another at the entrance of Ta’anak, a village west of Jenin, stopping Palestinian vehicles and checking passengers' identities.
Soldiers also conducted military training using live ammunition at Al-Jalama, an Israeli military camp near Jenin.
In Hebron, Israeli soldiers intensified their presence at city entrances and at the old city, turned several Palestinian houses into military barracks and set up checkpoints at the southern entrance of the town of Al Dahriyah and the town of Sair, stopping Palestinian vehicles.
Military vehicles also patrolled Al Dahriyah town and Al Fawwar refugee camp, as well as several other areas.
