UN Bid Aims to Push Negotiations Forward, says Official

RAMALLAH, September 17, 2011 (WAFA) – Fatah Central Committee member, Farouk Kaddoumi, said Saturday that the main goal of addressing the United Nations Security Council is to push negotiations forward.

He told Voice of Palestine radio that the Palestinian Authority aims to establish Palestine as an occupied territory rather than a disputed territory and conduct bilateral negotiations based on that.

Kaddoumi said that the UN, which has taken many decisions regarding Palestine and refugees’ right to return, must prove to the world that the Palestinians have the right to establish an independent state with Jerusalem as its capital.

He stressed the importance of Palestinian reconciliation, saying “through reconciliation we can achieve everything.”
