WAFA Monitors Incitement and Racism in Israeli Media

RAMALLAH, September 14, 2011(WAFA) - Palestine News and Information Agency (WAFA) Wednesday monitored incitement and racism against the Palestinians and Arabs published by the Israeli media between August 28 and September 9.

Host of “the Last Word” show on Gale Tsahal Israeli radio station, Avery Gilad, who’s known for his racist opinions, called to withdraw Israeli citizenship from Arabs living in the Triangle, saying “we don’t have to ask Palestinians to recognize Israel as a Jewish state, because there will come a day when we’ll draw completely different borders that will change Israel into a Jewish state, as much as possible.”

Eyal Megged published an article on NRG website, in which he mocked the Palestinian bid to gain United Nations (UN) membership of a Palestinian state, saying “declaring the state is convenient for Palestinians, because there will be no country; they will only have a state on papers.”

He claimed that Palestinians are after the state of Israel, because they believe they are entitled to it. He further noted that the two-state solution that awaits the Palestinians won’t fulfill their dreams, they want all the land, including Israel, on a silver plate.

Yatd Na’maan religious newspaper’s open editorial incited against Arabs living in Israel, calling them “wild wolves,” and saying “We, Jews, live like a sheep between seven wolves. Not just because enemy countries surround us, but there are wild wolves living among us.” “Any one of them [Arabs] can turn into a terrorist any minute.”

NRG website published an article by David Ben Zion, in which he condemned the destruction of the illegal settlement outpost Megron, claiming that “settlers are productive, nice and nonviolent citizens of Israel.”

“Settlers aren’t anti-Israel and they don’t burn down police stations as violent Arabs do in Wadi Ara or Bedouins do in Negav,” he said.

Ben Zion accused the Israeli state of being too nice and tolerant with Arab illegal constructions, saying that “Israel can’t demolish an illegal house of Arab criminals without facing Arab mass objection.”

Israeli journalist Yaron Dekel published an article on NRG website, saying that “declaring a Palestinian state is a deceleration of a political war.”

Dekel accused the Israeli government of being “too confused with no clear policy! He questioned the Israeli ambassador to US, Michael Oren’s threats to cancel all agreements between Israel and the Palestinian Authority if Palestine requested UN membership, saying “has it been seriously discussed, even for once, to look at PA as a hostile entity, just like Hamas in Gaza? Will we achieve that?”

Eddie Yair Freiman, an Israeli journalist and a participant in the Israeli promotional delegation to UN, published an article on Ynet website, calling the Israeli public not to fear or be disturbed by the ‘illusionary’ declaration of a Palestinian state in UN.

He said that Israel would use the Palestinian unilateral action; gaining UN membership, to reveal and enact some of its unilateral decisions, such as annexation of land from Judea and Samaria (the West Bank) without limitations, instead of being dragged to react to the Palestinian move in September.

Freiman made threats to the Palestinians, saying that since PA depends on the Israeli financial and security support; Israel protects the Palestinians from extremists Islamic movements as Hamas, for example what happened in Gaza, after the Israeli army withdrew from it, Hamas took over! In addition Israeli minister of finance can “freeze the Palestinian economy when he chooses.”

NFC website published an instigating article by Amos Dai, in which he justified the Israeli humiliating inspections of Arabs living in Israel and called to withdraw their citizenships.

“Arabs in Israel are continuously meeting with enemies of the state. They aren’t loyal to the state of Israel and aim to terminate the Zionist Jewish identity,” Dai said. He accused Arabs to behave as a fifth column inside Israel, and thus they deserve these inspections.

“The extremist colonial Islamic terrorism is getting stronger in Israel, and in all over the world, where Muslims live,” he added.

Israeli Army Reserve Major, Moshe Hsdai continues to publish anti-Islam racist articles as NFC website recently published, in which he accused the late Palestinian President Yasser Arafat to “create global terrorism.”

Hsdai commented on the famous Israeli journalist, Yosef Lapid’s autobiography, and said “The Arabs never have or will accept our existence here. Is there anyone who doubts that they would kill us all if they could without hesitation?”

He accused Arafat of being ‘the God father of international terrorism,’ and said that al-Qaida complements what Arafat started.

He quoted Lapid, saying “It’s forbidden to doubt the fact that our biggest problem is Islam! If talks only concern the Palestinians’ national aspirations, we would have reached an agreement a long time ago. But for every secular Palestinian born, there are two extremist religious Palestinians who want the Jews dead.”

“Extremist Islam declared war against all Western values: freedom, democracy, equality, science, technology, compromise and progress,” Lapid went on.

Nadav Hatsena published an article on NRG website, in which he called on the Israeli government to change its policies with Turkey and PA, and accused the Palestinian government to breach peace agreements with Israel.

“Palestinians are threatening to declare a state and create a riot, violating Oslo accords,” Hatsena said.

He called on Israel to deprive Palestinians of all commitments; money and rights that guarantee their existence.
