RAMALLAH, September 8, 2011 (WAFA) – South Africa Representative to the Palestinian Authority, Mlungisi Makalima, Thursday stressed his country’s support to the Palestinian bid to gain full United Nations recognition of a Palestinian state within 1967 borders later this month, and that it will work to gain all the African Union state members’ support for the bid.
Makalima received a delegation from the Palestinian Democratic Union (FIDA), headed by its Secretary-General, Zahira Kamal, in the South African Mission headquarters in Ramallah.
Kamal stressed that the Palestinian bid to the UN is one way of non-violence and a Palestinian right, saying, “We’ll go to the Security Council despite expectations of the US veto.”
She considered the bid as “not contradicting negotiations but stimulating a new beginning for them, under international supervision and not confined to US guardianship.”
