RAMALLAH, September 7, 2011 (WAFA) – Kuwait announced on Wednesday that it decided to grant the Palestinian Authority $50 million in budget support.

The money was paid to the World Bank, which will transfer it to the Palestinian Authority.

The grant is expected to make it possible for the Palestinian government to pay salaries to its employees. It had announced on Tuesday that it may be able to pay only half of August salary as a result of its financial crisis caused by failure of donor countries to provide needed funds.

President Mahmoud Abbas thanked Kuwait for its support of the Palestinian people at a time the Palestinian Authority was facing financial difficulties.
