RAMALLAH, September 7, 2011 (WAFA) – Minister of Health Fathi Abu Moghli Wednesday said that he will head a Palestinian medical delegation on a humanitarian mission to the city of Benghazi in Libya.
The delegation is expected to travel to Jordan on Thursday and from there fly on a Palestinian airplane to Libya hoisting a Palestinian flag in a gesture to the upcoming Palestinian state, he said in a press conference held in Ramallah.
“The medical delegation represents the Palestinian support for the Libyan nation and leadership, and carries a humanitarian message of peace to Libya,” he said.
He stressed that the Palestinian delegation will remain in Libya as needed and in coordination with the Libyan National Transitional Council, which will facilitate the mission and locate work areas.
The team comprises of 40 doctors of different specialties and several lab technicians, along with medical supplies, as well as it is accompanied by a political delegation, said Abu Moghli. He added that Palestinians have vast experience with war trauma and injuries and will employ all their expertise to help the Libyans.
