Escalation of Settlements to Foil Palestinian UN Bid, says Official

RAMALLAH, September 5, 2011 (WAFA) – Presidential spokesman Nabil Abu Rudeineh condemned Monday the escalation of Jewish settlement activities in the West Bank, saying they aim to foil the Palestinian bid to the United Nations for full membership.

He told WAFA that setting fire to a mosque in the city of Nablus, expanding the settlements of Ramat Shlomo and Rakhus Shu’fat in the West Bank and building a new settlement at the location of the Shepherd Hotel, the Mufti’s vineyard in the Old City of Jerusalem, are all indicative of the Israeli stance against peace.

Abu Rudeineh called on the international community to interfere and pressure Israel to stop its illegal actions that violate international law.
