Jewish Settlers Set Fire to Mosque in West Bank

NABLUS, September 5, 2011 (WAFA) – Jewish settlers set fire at dawn Sunday to a mosque in Qusra, a village southeast of Nablus in the northern West Bank, said head of the settlements file in the northern West Bank, Ghassan Daghlas.

Daghlas told WAFA that extremist Jewish settlers broke into the mosque in the dark and set fire to the ground floor, in a similar manner to other acts of arson that have targeted mosques in the West Bank for the past few months in Nablus, Salfit and Bethlehem.

Coordinator of the Israeli Rabbis for Human Rights organization, Zakaria al-Sidda, sent out text messages to Palestinians warning against possible settlers’ retaliation attacks after the Israeli army demolished several buildings in Migron settlement outpost near Mukhmas, a village south of Ramallah.

In a related matter, Jewish settlers’ violence extended along the main roads in the West Bank as settlers attacked Palestinian vehicles and burned tires on the Nablus-Ramallah and Jenin-Ramallah main roads this morning.

Saeed Saleh told WAFA that more than 15 settlers attacked his car south of Nablus and destroyed the windshield, while chanting racist slogans calling for killing Palestinians.

Settlers from Shilo settlement southeast of Nablus ambushed Palestinian vehicles along the main road and burned tires under the protection of the Israeli army, added Saleh.
