Abbas on Official Visit to Sarajevo

SARAJEVO, August 14, 2011 (WAFA) - President Mahmoud Abbas arrived Sunday to Sarajevo, capital of the Republic of Bosnia and Herzegovina, in an official three-day visit, where he met with the Bosnian President Baker Ali Izzet Begovic.

Abbas was received by Bosnia's Foreign Minister, Sven Alkalaj, and Palestine ambassador to the Republic of Bosnia and Herzegovina, Khalid Atrash.

He also met with the Arab ambassadors to the Republic of Bosnia and Herzegovina and briefed them on the latest developments of the Palestinian cause, especially the efforts to go to the United Nations (UN) in September to seek recognition of a Palestinian state within 1967 borders and with East Jerusalem as its capital.

He also briefed the Arab ambassadors on the developments of the peace process in light of the Israeli government’s intransigence and continued settlement activities in the West Bank and Jerusalem.
