Ashrawi: Palestinians Will not Bargain to Obtain their Rights

RAMALLAH, June 30, 2011 (WAFA) – Hanan Ashrawi, Executive Committee member of the Palestinian Liberation Organization (PLO), Thursday rejected the U.S. senate’s 181 resolution; to stop the financial aid to Palestinians, if they seek a UN recognition of a Palestinian state in September saying, “Palestinians will not bargain to obtain their essential rights and will not work under the US congress’ blackmails.”

Ashrwai said in a statement that the US senate took advantage of its financial powers to interfere in the American foreign policy and pressure the U.S. president, Barack Obama to exercise a financial extortion.

She added that the US works now for the Israeli government, serve Israel with its own interest; protect them from the consequences of their illegal measures as well as it works as a tool to adopt Israel’s policies and demands, particularly regarding judaizing the state.

Ashrawi, who is also head of the PLO culture and information department, said that Israel and the U.S. are leading a vicious campaign; trying to recruit the European countries supporting Palestinians and reduce the number of these countries, in order to prevent the Palestinians from gaining UN recognition of a Palestinian state next September.

She stressed the Palestinian stance; seeking a full UN membership as well as gaining UN and international community’s recognition of a Palestinian state within the 1967 borders and with Jerusalem as its capital.
