RAMALLAH, June 30, 2011 (WAFA) - The three Arabic dailies focused Thursday on the US Senate decision to stop aid to Palestinians, if they seek a UN recognition of a Palestinian state, as well as the arrest of Raed Salah, Head of the Islamic movement in London
Al-Quds read: The US senate decides to stop aid to Palestinians if they seek UN recognition of a state or form a government that includes Hamas.
Regarding Salah Arrest, al Quds said: head of the Islamic movement appeals to the British Supreme Court regarding the deportation order against Salah.
Front pages of Al-Hayat Al-Jadida and Al-Ayyam reported on Abbas’ visit to Netherlands, Al-H Al Jadida said: Abbas meets with Arab ambassadors in Hague. Abbas to deliver a speech at Netherland’s Parliament.
Al Quds front page had a headline that read: peace process between Palestinians and Israel reached a dead end, Netanyahu’s insistence on a Jewish state cripples the negotiations and expands settlement activities.
Al-Hayat Al-Jadida’s front page story highlighted Palestinian prisoner Nael al-Barghouthi who was injured after being beaten by Israeli security soldiers in the Ramon Israeli prison, the Palestinian prisoners’ club declares a state of emergency.
Al-Hayat Al-Jadida and Al-Ayyam published a picture of a Palestinian child carrying al-Barghouthi’s picture during a sit-in held in solidarity with prisoners in front of the Red Crescent headquarters in Ramallah.
Al-Quds reported on a Palestinian reporter tortured by Hamas regarding an investigative report he prepared on Palestinian Taliban.
In Al Quds, Dublin warns Tel Aviv against any actions harming activists involved in the Freedom Flotilla 2.
In a related matter, Al-Ayyam said: a mounting pressure to hinder the sailing of Freedom Flotilla 2.
Al-Ayyam front page headline quoted Fayyad saying: “I will not be an obstacle to the formation of the Palestinian government; I am not an ATM machine and never was.”
In al Quds, Fayyad confirms that ending the occupation is the most important issue to Palestinians, warning of high expectations regarding the results of the international recognition of a Palestinian state.
Regarding the Seven years of peaceful anti wall protests in Bilin, which finally forced Israel to tear down the wall, which swallowed over 60% of the village’s land, Al-Ayyam quoted Fayyad saying: the Palestinian authority will provide aid to Palestinians in reconstructing their liberated land.
Al-Ayyam quoted Israeli officials saying: we don’t have solutions to face wide peaceful demonstrations in September.
The paper also published the President of the World Jewish Congress, Ronald Lauder’s statement, urging Netanyahu to adopt a clear political plan.
Al-Ayyam also featured An Israeli minister saying: Israel to completely prohibit Hamas prisoners from making any phone calls.
Al-Hayat Al-Jadida and Al-Ayyam highlighted events in Cairo, al Hayat read: the arrest of an American and a British as well as the injuring of 1000 people during confrontations in Cairo.
The Tahrir square, a town square in downtown Cairo erupts again, 1114 injured in confrontations, said Al-Ayyam.
