RAMALLAH, June 4, 2011 (WAFA) – Israeli guards of a stone quarry Saturday shot and injured a Palestinian who was participating in a protest against an Israeli-owned stone quarry built on land belonging to three villages in the Ramallah area, according to local popular committees.
The quarry, owned by a retired Israeli army officer, was built on thousands of dunums of land belonging to Shukba, Ni'lin and Qibya, three villages west of Ramallah.
The popular committees in Ni'lin and Budros said that Israeli guards of the quarry opened fire at the protesters without warning, moderately injuring one Palestinian.
Israeli soldiers in the area also fired tear gas at the protesters causing many to suffer from the gas and setting olive trees on fire.
