AWARTA, April 11, 2011 (WAFA) – Israeli forces Monday withdrew from Awarta village, east of Nablus in the northern West Bank, after a military operation that began last Friday, according to local sources.
Eyewitnesses said a number of Israeli vehicles and soldiers withdrew to Huwara military camp adjacent to the village, after spending several days in Awarta arresting residents, searching and destroying house contents and instilling fear among the population of the village.
Awarta has been under heavy harassment by Israeli forces for the last month, after the 11th March killing of five Jewish settlers in the nearby Itamar settlement, illegally constructed on Awarta land.
This is despite that fact that no Palestinian or Palestinian faction has declared responsibility for the incident.
