CAIRO, April 9, 2011 (WAFA) - President Mahmoud Abbas called Saturday for an emergency meeting of the Arab League to be held on Sunday to discuss Israel’s military attacks on Gaza.

According to Saeb Erekat, member of the PLO Executive Committee, Abbas called for the meeting, which will be held at the level of delegates, to discuss the Israeli escalation and to condemn Israel’s attacks which have left 17 Palestinians dead and many more injured.

He said the Arabs should speak in one voice to put a stop to the Israeli aggression.

Arab League Secretary General Amr Moussa told Abbas that the meeting will be held at noon on Sunday.
