TEL AVIV, April 7, 2011 (WAFA) - Danny Dayan, chairman of Yesha Council of West Bank settlements, said settlers would be willing to move out of West Bank settlements in return for big sums of cash, according to documents revealed by Wikileaks and published Thursday in the Israeli press.
Dayan told US diplomats in closed meetings that he was “ashamed” of settlers’ violence against Palestinians and of their illegal construction. He said that he would like to see checkpoints removed to allow Palestinians a chance to improve their economic conditions.
He also said that he understands the Palestinians’ attachment to the West Bank, but that Jews have a right to live there as well.
