AWARTA April 7, 2011 (WAFA) - Israeli soldiers raided since mid-night Wednesday the village of Awarta, east of Nablus, and arrested scores of women and men residents, Thursday said local residents.
They said the soldiers raided the village, imposed curfew then rounded up dozens of women and men of all ages.
The arrests were concentrated in the eastern parts of Awarta, adjacent to Itamar settlement, where last month a Jewish family was killed by yet unknown assailant.
Elderly women and men were among the arrested. They were taken to Hawara military camp, near the village, where the army took blood to check for DNA and their finger prints. They were later released.
Awarta has been heavily targeted since the killing in the settlement. The army and settlers regularly raid the village and harass the local population.
Meanwhile, in Bethlehem, soldiers broke into several homes in Dheisha refugee camp south of the city and arrested four teenagers, said residents.
