RAMALLAH, APRIL 5, 2011 (WAFA) – President Mahmoud Abbas’ Fatah movement said Tuesday that Israeli government plans to build new housing in the settlements will kill the peace process.
It said in a statement that Israel has total disregard to the international community and law when it goes against its will which rejects settlements and consider them illegal.
The statement warned that the Netanyahu government’s decision to build hundreds of units in East Jerusalem settlements is an attempt “to abort quartet efforts to revive the peace process.”
Israel on Monday approved construction of 942 housing units in the settlement of Gilo, south of Jerusalem, and approved plans to expand four West Bank settlements.
