HEBRON, April 1, 2011 (WAFA) – Israeli soldiers abused Palestinians in the village of Beit Ummar, north of Hebron, Thursday night, according to local sources.
Mohammad Awad, spokesman for the National Committee against the Wall and Settlements, told WAFA that dozens of Israeli soldiers manning checkpoints at the entrances to the village stopped Palestinian vehicles and inspected in a provocative manner papers of passengers.
The soldiers also prevented passengers from getting out of the vehicles at the village entrance claiming it was a closed military zone.
Awad said soldiers slashed cars’ tires, broke windshields, and seized car keys of cars which stopped at village entrance to pick up or drop passengers.
Beit Ummar is located on a main road regularly used by Israeli settlers traveling between settlements in the south of the West Bank.
