RAMALLAH, March 31, 2011 (WAFA)- Ministry of Detainees’ Affairs said Thursday that Israeli Authorities renewed the administrative detention of prisoner Hana Shalabi for six more months for the fourth time in a row.
Ministry’s Lawyer, Shrin Iraqi, said that the Israeli intelligence issued a new warrant renewing Shalabi’s imprisonment without any legal justification, under the pretext of having ‘a secret file of the prisoner’, and without any specific charges for the renewal”.
Al Shalabi was arrested as an administrative prisoner, and Israeli authorities renewed her imprisonment every six months since 14/9/2009.
It is indicated that there are three female administrative prisoners in the Israeli Sharon and Damon prisons.
Female prisoners in Sharon and Damon prisons wrote a letter to the ministry, saying they will Take protesting steps during the next month, in response to the prison administration’s continuous violations of their human rights and dignity.
They also said they demand providing them medical treatment for the sick prisoners, stopping prevention of visitations and stopping the unscheduled humiliating inspection of their rooms, putting an end to ‘Nahshon’ unit’s abusive attacks of prisoners while transporting them to military courts, as well as allowing them to obtain a university degree, meet their imprisoned husbands(for the married female prisoners), repeat the high school degree exam (tawjihi) and receive books, clothes and shoes from their families.
