MONTEVIDEO, March 30, 2011(WAFA) - Minister of Foreign Affairs, Luis Almagro, and Member of PLO Executive Committee, Saeb Erekat, Wednesday signed a joint agreement on the establishment of diplomatic relations in order to strengthen the cooperation and friendly relations between the two countries.
The two countries confirmed their commitment to principles and purposes of the UN charter and International Law, particularly regarding international peace and security, respect of States’ sovereignty and independence and the Non-intervention in their internal affairs.The two officials agreed to nominate suitable ambassadors by time set.
Permanent Observer of Palestine to the United Nations, Riyad Mansour, and Permanent Representative of Uruguay to the United Nations, José Luis Cancela , signed a joint letter to UN Secretary General, Ban Ki-moon, to disseminate the joint statement as one of the UN’s official documents.
