JERUSALEM, March 28, 2011 (WAFA) – Israeli forces Sunday arrested Nadia al-Kurd, a 65 year old Jerusalemite, from her house in Sheikh Jarrah neighborhood in Jerusalem for allegedly assaulting a settler.
Israeli intelligence and police interrogated al-Kurd for several hours for assaulting a Jewish settler who seized her house a year ago.
Al-Kurd denied the charges against her and stressed that she had filed a complaint against the settler who attacked her.
Witnesses said Israeli soldiers and police officers raided al-Kurd’s house and arrested her, threatening to handcuff her hands and feet if she resisted.
Al-Kurd’s 90 year old mother went with her daughter to the detention center.
Jewish settlers seized half of al-Kurd’s house in 2009, and only a wall separates the two sections now. Since then, the al-Kurd family is suffering from repeated harassment and assault by the settlers.
