JERUSALEM, March 13, 2011 (WAFA) – Israeli police stationed inside al-Aqsa Mosque in Jerusalem Sunday arrested three Palestinian worshippers and led them to a police station in the Old City.
The detainees are Palestinian residents of Israel.
One of the al-Aqsa guards said that “several worshippers responded to a group of ultra-orthodox Jews breaking into the mosque courtyards from the Mughrabi Gate and provoked the worshippers who chanted against desecration of al-Aqsa.”
He added that Israeli police reinforcements arrived on the scene and immediately arrested three worshippers, one of whom was unconscious. Paramedics tried to reach him, but Israeli forces blocked them in an atmosphere of turmoil and tension, and guarded the extremist Jews inside the al-Aqsa compound.
Israeli police arrested two Palestinian residents of Israel who were worshipping in the mosque two weeks ago on the same charges: chanting and facing Jewish groups that wander around the courtyards of the mosque.
