In a press release ISESCO said that this meeting due to be held in Amman, from 16 to 17 March 2011, comes as a response to attempts by the Israeli occupation authorities to annex the Ibrahimi Mosque (Tomb of Patriarchs) in Hebron, Bilal bin Rabah Mosque (Dome of Rachel) in Bethlehem to the list of Israeli heritage, as well as to Israeli plans to Judaize Al-Boraq Wall (Wailing Wall).
To highlight the illegality of these Israeli Judaization attempts, the meeting will consider the drawing up of a documented report that will be part of the general report to be submitted to the relevant international bodies on all attempts by Israel to Judaize East Jerusalem and its Islamic historical landmarks.
For the record, ISESCO had established the Committee of Archeology Experts to take stock of the magnitude of dangers besetting the Al-Aqsa Mosque, due to the Israeli illegal excavations. The committee conducted field-visits to Al-Quds and other Palestinian territories and devised relevant legal reports.
The meeting will see the participation of archeology experts and officials from the Syrian Arab Republic, the Arab Republic of Egypt, the State of Palestine and the Hashimite Kingdom of Jordan.
ISESCO will be represented in the meeting by Mr Mustapha Eid, a programmes specialist at the Culture and Communication Directorate.
