Israeli Settlers Intensify Attacks on Palestinians

HEBRON, March1, 2011 (WAFA) – Jewish settlers Tuesday intensified their attacks on Palestinians in Hebron, south of the West Bank.

A group of settlers from the Ramat Yishai settlement threw stones at Palestinian houses in the neighborhood of Tel Rumeida in central Hebron causing damage to homes.

Settlers also attacked Palestinian residents, but when one of the residents attempted to file a complaint against the settlers to Israeli soldiers in the area, they arrested him, according to Palestinian security sources.

Witnesses said settlers attacked Palestinians in Tel Rumeida for two nights in a row and tried to cut trees near a Palestinians house and attacked another.

Settlers from Hagai settlement threw stones at Palestinians vehicles passing on the main road south of Hebron.

Further south of Hebron, dozens of armed settlers protected by Israeli soldiers uprooted 25 olive trees near Jabal Fureidis, east of Bethlehem, and set up tents before leaving the area.

Jabal Fureidis and surrounding areas have been subjected for several years to attacks by the Israeli military and settlers who prevent Palestinians access to their lands in preparation to seize it.
