Six Children Arrest during Confrontations in Silwan

JERUSALEM, February28, 2011 (WAFA)- Israeli undercover forces dressed as Palestinians Monday arrested six children during violent confrontations in the East Jerusalem neighborhood of Silwan and were taken to a detention compound  in West Jerusalem.

The Israeli police claimed the youngsters were throwing rocks at the Israeli police and setting tires on fire in the main streets to block the police vehicles’ movement.

Member of Committee for the Defense of Silwan, Fakhri Abu Diab, said that violent confrontations were underway in several areas in Silwan, especially in the area around al-Ein and the Bustan, were Israel plans to demolish at least 88 Palestinian homes to make way for building a Jewish park.

He pointed to multiple injuries occurred among the residents as a result of heavy use of stun grenades and tear gas, thrown at houses in the area.
