Settlers Block Roads Around Nablus

NABLUS, February 28, 2011 (WAFA) - Israeli settlers Monday blocked roads around Nablus and threw stones at passing Palestinian cars.

Witnesses said groups of settlers gathered at the crossroads leading to the settlements of Yitzhar, Bracha and Itamar and other settlements located between Nablus and Qalqilya.

They said settlers stoned Arab vehicles driving on roads between the village of Jit, west of Nablus, and Huwwara, south of the city.

Ghassan Daghlas, who monitors settlement activities in the north of the West Bank, said Israeli settlers retaliated against the Palestinians in the area after the Israeli army evacuated four houses in the settlement of Gilead.

He warned against escalation of Israeli attacks on the villages, especially south of Nablus.
