Khater: Tourism Conference Attempt to Enforce Status Quo in Jerusalem

JERUSALEM, February 27, 2011 (WAFA) – Israel’s insistence on holding the International Tourism Conference scheduled on 29-31 March 2011 is an attempt to enforce the status quo upon the international community, said Hassan Khater, Secretary General of the Islamic-Christian Committee Sunday.

Khater said in a press release that Israel’s insistence to hold the conference is an attempt to make Jerusalem an international capital.

Adopting this policy within international silence will weaken international decisions in favor of Palestinians living in Jerusalem and will give way for immigration of thousands of Jews to Jerusalem.

Khater called upon the international community to take decisions saying that Jerusalem is an occupied city and not a capital of Israel.

Israel has invited 30 countries to participate in the conference.
