RAMALLAH, 26 February, 2011 (WAFA) - Settlers and Israeli soldiers’ violence against Palestinians have increased after a US veto of an anti-settlement United Nations Security Council resolution last week, according to a report the Palestine Liberation Organization (PLO) published Saturday.
The report said that in the past week, forces attacked Palestinians, raided homes, and destroyed property and agricultural land.
In Nablus, Israeli forces cut down 520 olive trees and demolished temporary tented structures sheltering families in Khirbet Tana for the fifth time in a row.
In Hebron, settlers threw stones at residents in the old city and in the village of Yatta, injuring several Palestinians. The report also said that two water wells were destroyed.
The report also included incidents of settlers’ violence in Bethlehem, where 230 olive trees were bulldozed and confiscated in several villages around the city.
Meanwhile in the Ramallah area, settlers destroyed 150 dunums of wheat.
The PLO report said that “Israel considers the veto as a green light to go ahead with destruction, terror and theft.”
