MISRATA, LIBYA, February 25, 2011 (WAFA) – The first known Palestinian fatality was Friday reported in Libya, according to relatives of the Palestinian.

According to Muhammad Abu Mustafa, his nephew, Hassan Abu Mustafa, 20, who studies engineering at Misrata University in Libya, was killed in the ongoing turmoil in the north African country.

He told WAFA that Hassan went out to look for his uncle, Omar Abu Mustafa, who had been missing for three days, when he was killed in yet unclear circumstances.

Abu Mustafa’s family, which originally comes from Khan Younis in the Gaza Strip, lives in Misrata, 200 kilometers east of the Libyan capital, Tripoli.

The Palestinian Authority hopes to get as much of the Palestinian community living in Libya out and Israel has agreed to allow only 300 to come and live in the West Bank. Number of Palestinians living in Libya is estimated at between 25,000 and 40,000; most have been living there for decades.
