HEBRON, Feburary22, 2011 (WAFA) - Building tents, barns and wells in the Palestinian territory became, according to Israeli occupation policy, in need of permits, otherwise it will be destroyed and residents will be displaced, as was the case Tuesday in the village of Susiya.
Israeli forces Tuesday removed eight tents belonging to Palestinians and destroyed two wells in the Susiya area, east of Yatta, in the Hebron region.
Abdul Hadi Hantash, an expert in settlement in the southern West Bank, confirmed that what happened in Susiya was part of a plan led by settlers with the implementation of the Israeli government aiming to find a security buffer zone in the areas near the settlements.
He added that it also comes within the allegations of settlers that these Palestinian gatherings are a danger to settlers.
However, the main objective of the Israelis is to close in on citizens, to expel them from their land in order to expand settlements or build roads connecting the settlements, or even for agricultural projects by claiming they were Jewish property, he said.
Hantash said that the Council of Jewish Settlements in the West Bank, YISHA, is implementing this policy that will affect all areas adjacent to settlements and the separation and discrimination wall to confiscate more Palestinian lands.
He added that these measures increase unemployment and poverty since the majority of the people depend on agriculture and herding for living.
